Dr. Mrs. Imedimfon Maria Edwin Okon (MBBS, MPH, MWACP, AFNPMCN) is a seasoned public health physician, administrator, and health advocate with over 20 years of experience in health systems leadership and community service. She is the 25th (Silver) President of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Lagos State Branch, and the Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer of Ibeju-Lekki General Hospital.
Dr. Okon holds an MBBS from the University of Ilorin, an MPH from the University of Lagos, and a Master’s degree in Field Epidemiology from the University of Ibadan in collaboration with the U.S. CDC. Her career within the Lagos State Health Service Commission is marked by transformational leadership, including the establishment of new clinical departments, expansion of specialist services, improved maternal health uptake, and increased hospital revenue.
A long-standing MWAN leader since 2005, she has served in several state, national, and international roles and received national recognition for her outreach work. Her presidency is driven by the theme “The Bridge,” focused on mentorship, inclusivity, member welfare, and advocacy for maternal and child health.
